Boston Region MPO Considers Revising Funding Plan That Includes Air Quality Improvement Projects; Public Review Period Open until June 21

The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has released a draft amendment to its four-year transportation funding plan for public review. The MPO, which is responsible for programming federal transportation dollars in the Boston region, will vote on any proposed revisions to Amendment Four to its Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) on June 30, following a 30-day public review period.

The proposed changes pertain to dollars programmed to be spent during federal fiscal year 2011 for projects funded through the MPO’s Clean Air and Mobility Program. The amendment also includes other updates to highway and transit funding programs.  This amendment is a revised version of the TIP Amendment Four that was advertised for public comment on April 17, 2011.

The 30-day public comment period began on Monday, May 23, and will end on Tuesday, June 21. The amendment is available on the MPO’s website, www.bostonmpo.org, and can also be obtained by contacting MPO staff via the addresses and methods listed below. Copies are free of charge and, upon request, will be made available in CD, print, and accessible formats.

The MPO’s Transportation Planning and Programming Committee is planning to take action on the amendment at its meeting scheduled for June 30, 2011. The meeting will begin at 10:00 AM in conference rooms 2 and 3 of the State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, Boston. Members of the public are invited to attend.
