Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization Proposes to Expand Municipal Membership: Public Workshops Scheduled for June

The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is proposing to expand its membership as it updates the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) it shares with its member agencies and entities. Public discussions were held throughout this past spring during which the MPO heard public opinion regarding issues associated with the structure, operation, and membership of the MPO. Having taken all public comments into consideration, the MPO has drafted a revised version of its MOU, Version 2,  and released it for public review and discussion.

The proposed changes would expand the MPO membership from 14 to 22 members, giving additional seats to elected municipal members. The City of Boston, a permanent member, would have one additional seat on the MPO. Also, the Regional Transportation Advisory Council would become a full voting member of the MPO.

A copy of Version Two of the MOU document in which the proposed changes are highlighted can be viewed here:

The MPO will hold a series of public workshops in June to discuss Version Two with the public and seek further input. The workshop dates, times, and locations are listed below:

Wednesday, June 15, from noon to 1:00 PM and 5:30 to 6:30 PM
