Boston Region MPO Seeks Public Comment On Planning Documents Now

Type:  Announcements

Public Notice:  August 8, 2011

The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is circulating for public review and comment three important transportation planning documents:

1) a Draft Amendment to the FFY 2011 element of the FFYs 2011–2014 Transportation
Improvement Program (TIP),

2) the Draft FFYs 2012–2015 TIP, and

3) the Draft Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), Paths to a Sustainable Region.

The amendment would increase funding available for several projects in several funding categories. The Draft FFYs 2012–2015 TIP lists the highway and transit projects that will receive funding within the scope of the document. The LRTP explains the MPO’s transportation vision for the region, discusses plans to accomplish the vision, and identifies the regionally significant projects to be funded over the next 23 years.

The 30-day public comment period for the proposed amendment will begin on Monday, August 8, and end on Tuesday, September 6. The MPO is planning to take action on the amendment at its meeting scheduled for September 8, 2011.

The 30-day public comment period for the Draft TIP and Draft LRTP will begin on Monday, August 15, and end on Tuesday, September 13. The MPO is planning to take action on these two documents at its meeting scheduled for September 22, 2011.

The meetings will begin at 10:00 AM in conference rooms 2 and 3 of the State Transportation Building, 10 Park Plaza, Boston. Members of the public are invited to attend. Comments on the three drafts will be accepted in writing at the address below before the close of the public comment periods and at the meetings.
