The Construction Career Day (CCD) Organization Committee is grateful for the tremendous support we have received in the past, and wish to thank you for your part in making the MassCCD event an annual success. Because of your generosity and support, the 2014 event exposed over 1,100 students from across Massachusetts to careers in the construction industry. We should all be proud of this accomplishment.

This year we are pleased to announce an exciting, innovative, and tailored approach to the event – from the students selected to attend – to the hands on activities they will participate in.  This 1-day event will focus on 620 students, some currently enrolled in the new Massachusetts Construction Career Development Pre-Apprenticeship Program, others having demonstrated a prior interest in engineering or the construction trades.

The industry faces a shortage of young, qualified workers and MassCCD was created to help address this shortage and to educate high-school students about the wide range of career opportunities available in the construction industry. The event shows students that construction is a great profession - whether their interests lie in math, specific trades, mechanics, engineering or science - and that the industry offers rewarding, high-paying jobs.

Exhibitors at MassCCD include construction and related companies, vendors, equipment dealers, labor unions, apprentice programs, colleges and others. The exhibitors donate their time, equipment and in some cases operators, but beyond that there is no cost to exhibit. This event is a great way to work with state government and industry partners to attract a future work force. Volunteers from exhibitor companies talk to the students about the skills and training they will need to succeed, while trade partners will assist student groups in a variety of activities, such as: digging a trench, using pavement breakers for demolition, welding, cutting and burning, form work, surveying, painting, and tying rebar.
