History of Geotechnical Consulting in Boston

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Radisson Hotel, 200 Stuart Street, Boston
5:30 PM Registration; 6:30 PM Dinner; 7:15 PM Presentation & Panel Discussion

These three founding Principals will describe from their perspectives the evolution of geotechnical engineering as we know it today from its beginnings as small technically specialized practices in the 1950's and 1960's.  Join us in this celebration of Boston's prominent and unique role in the history and evolution of the practice of geotechnical engineering in the United States.

The founders of three major geotechnical consulting firms from the Boston area will discuss the genesis of the “new science” of soil mechanics and foundation engineering and its close interaction with academia.  Selected topics and illustrative stories from the “early years” of geotechnical consulting in Boston will be described.  Time will be provided after the presentations for questions and discussion from the attendees.

Featuring:
Harl P. Aldrich, Founding Principal, Haley & Aldrich, Inc.
