About the Engineering Business
Some member firms do business with federal, state and municipal governments while others concentrate on working with private developers. These firms design infrastructure: roads, bridges, transit, water, wastewater and sewage treatment plants, energy systems, telecommunications, educational facilities, specialized buildings and labs, and more. They are an important component of the larger construction industry because they take the lead at the design phase.
ACEC/MA member firms are mostly private corporations; a few are publicly traded. Non-engineering design professional firms may be eligible to join as associate members while some professional service firms may join as affiliate members of ACEC/MA.
ACEC/MA actively tackles public issues at the State House and with government agencies and other clients of our firms, protecting the business interests of our firms.
Public Agency Partnering
ACEC/MA members actively participate in partnering with several Massachusetts public agencies, including the Massachusetts Highway Department, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, Massport, and the Division of Capital Asset Management.
ACEC/MA is a Member Organization of the American Consulting Engineers Council headquartered in Washington, DC.
ACEC/MA is one of 52 Member Organizations located throughout the United States totaling more than 5,500 firms employing over 180,000 people, which design more than $100 billion in capital projects.
