2014 New England Achievement Award

Colin Angle, CEO, iRobot Corporation

We are pleased to announce that Colin Angle, CEO, Chairman and Co-Founder of iRobot Corporation, is the winner of the 2014 Engineers Week, New England Achievement Award.

Colin Angle is one of the world’s leading authorities on practical robots. He is an industry pioneer with more than two decades of experience designing and building robots that make a difference.

At the forefront of the growing robot industry, Colin has made significant advancements in navigation, mobility, manipulation and artificial intelligence and redefined how the world sees and uses robotics.

Colin was the brainchild of National Robotics Week, an event designated by Congress in 2010 to raise awareness about robots and its important role in shaping the future of education, industry and the U.S. economy.

Education is a passion for Colin. He established a STEM initiative at iRobot, and the company now hosts over 1,000 students each year for tours, and its employees visit hundreds of schools and educational groups annually.

Colin Angle will receive his award at the Engineers Week 2014 Luncheon and Awards ceremony, to be held at the Revere Hotel Boston on Friday, February 14, 2014 between 12:00 and 2:00 PM. We hope that you can join us as Mr. Angle receives this award and delivers a keynote speech.

Nominations for seven candidates with strong and highly impressive backgrounds were received, which made it a very difficult task for the awards committee.

We warmly thank all those who submitted nominations and we strongly encourage re-submission for the 2015 New England Achievement Award. The 2015 call for nominations will be announced in mid 2014.

Each February, Engineers Week - New England confers the New England Achievement Award to celebrate an individual who has furthered the field of engineering.
