PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JANUARY 22, 2010 Contact: Maureen Kelly Telephone: 617-973-7097 Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization mkelly@bostonmpo.org Boston Region MPO Releases Draft Amendment to the Transportation Improvement Program for Public Review The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking public comments on a proposed amendment to the planning document that outlines the highway and transit projects programmed to receive federal funding in the 101-municipality area of eastern Massachusetts that composes the MPO region. The amendment pertains to transportation projects that are programmed to receive economic-stimulus funding this year. The amendment affects the federal fiscal year (FFY) 2010 element of the FFYs 2010–2013 Transportation Improvement Program and Air Quality Conformity Determination (TIP) by removing one project from a group of projects that are to be implemented with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), and adding four other projects in its place. In addition, the MPO’s Transportation Planning and Programming Committee has adopted an administrative modification to the TIP that adjusted certain project costs. For details on the changes to the ARRA-funded project list and the administrative modification, visit the MPO’s website, www.bostonmpo.org, click on the “TIP” link, and then on “Amendment 3.” The document may also be obtained by contacting the MPO staff at the addresses noted below. It will be provided in print, CD, or accessible formats, upon request. The public review process will begin Monday, January 25, 2010, and end Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 5:00 PM. Written comments must be received by the MPO by that time.
