The Town of Bedford seeks candidates for the Department of Public Works (DPW) Engineer position. This position performs professional and technical engineering duties associated with the design, construction and maintenance of all DPW projects. This role requires organization and initiative in the application of prescribed policies, procedures, and methods. The Engineer reports to the DPW Director, supervises an engineering staff of three, and interacts with all DPW staff, Boards and Committees, other town departments, contractors and businesses, and the public. Attendance at periodic nighttime Board/ Committee meetings is expected. In addition to the Town’s job description, this position performs all other related work as required.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; five years of progressive experience with project design, specifications, estimating, and inspection of municipal infrastructure projects; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. In addition to technical skills there is significant interaction with other staff and the public, and strong interpersonal skills are critical to success. A Massachusetts Class D driver’s license is required. A MA professional engineer (PE) license and/ or Master’s Degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
Starting salary range for FY22 is $87,554.65 to $103,979.50, depending on experience. The Town of Bedford offers a comprehensive benefits package.
