Join the ACEC/MA Building Engineering Committee for our January 15 meeting.
Topic: Massachusetts legislators are seeking to understand the challenges and incentives for installing heat pumps when replacing existing mechanical systems. As part of that effort, legislative staff will attend our January 15 ACEC/MA Building Engineering Committee meeting to gain input from the engineering community
Some of the challenges when swapping existing equipment for a heat pump:
- Electrical service impacts
- Cost effectiveness, for both installation and operation
- Transition impacts
- Heat pump technology advancements
- Base building code versus the Stretch and Specialized energy code
- How to structure
Our meeting goal is to share knowledge and to share any follow-up information that BEC members may have. Legislative staff are also set to have separate discussions with other entities including the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources and the Mass. Clean Energy Center (MassCEC).
